How daring a leader are you? Are you courageous enough to:

1️⃣ Sail across the Atlantic and Pacific in a yacht this size? 

2️⃣ Weather Gale Force 10 on a vast ocean? 

3️⃣ Weather Gale Force 10 on a vast ocean with a partly trainee crew?

My friend Michelle is that brave.

Circumnavigating the globe on the first ever Derry~Londonderry yacht to enter the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race 2011-2012 her story about crossing the Pacific AND Atlantic in Gale Force 10 winds moves me to tears:

One minute you are on top of the wave, the next crashing down to the bottom.

Working flat out hoisting storm sails, keeping the mast intact and the boat upright.

When your shift is done you climb into a wet sleeping bag, and put your head on a wet pillow for 4 hours, hoping badly needed sleep comes before it’s your turn to relieve the next crew member.

Sounds mighty uncomfortable.

Or maybe you’re becalmed?

Going nowhere.

What do you do then?

Daring leadership is like that.
